Shaping the Seamless Head and Body
The magic of this pattern lies in its clever construction. You will begin by working the main body from the bottom up. After establishing the base rows, the design uses a strategic sequence of consecutive decreases to narrow down the fabric.
Instead of fastening off, you will turn your work 180 degrees to build the head directly onto those decreases, shifting into a series of corresponding increases. This creates a natural transition without any separate attachments.
Crafting the Face and Wings
The charming facial features are also integrated right into the rows. During the head rounds, a few stitches are worked exclusively through the back loops. This clever technique leaves the front loops exposed at the face’s center, providing the exact foundation needed to attach your contrasting orange yarn and easily craft a curved beak.
